The Paper Players Sketch Challenge 143

This week Ann Schach is our fabulous hostess over at the Paper Players!!
She has an exciting sketch for us to try our craftiness on!!!  In trying to decide what colors I was going to use; I looked over to my shelf and saw the box of bright little wonders of color in the "In Color Dahlias" calling my name.  These little gems have been waiting patiently for me for months!!!  So I decided to jump in and use the Dahlias with some fun colors such as Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Lucky Limeade.

Today's card is for Jaydee's "Clean-and-Simple"

new retired list that was just posted.

With Spring still here in Texas and for those still dealing with the last bits of cold; I thought a little bit of sunshine was in order.  I pulled out one of my favorite DSP packs called Polka Dot Parade with some Whisper White and Daffodil Delight.  Then I used the Nature's Pace stamp set that was just placed on our retired list.  So sad!!  There are several sets that are MUST haves before they are gone for good!!

Here is my card below:

Hello Sunshine!!

Spring is absolutely the best time of year here in Texas!!
The chill from the winter is gone and the sun is out, but not to the point where the heat has set in.  This card reminds me of the spring flowers and the tepid days were are enjoying now.
The grass is green and the flowers are blooming away in the sunshine!!
Here is my card below:

This is a duplicate of the card I did in March for the "March Pals Blog Hop".  It was so much fun to make; I had to do another!!!  Wow does the color change the look of the card!!!  I used the same "Tea for Two" DSP, just used "Lucky Limeade" and "Summer Starfruit" as my foundation.   In addition,  I also used my "Perfect Polka Dot Embossing" folder over the DSP and flower to give dimension.  Same card.....different dress!!!  FUN!!!

I hope you enjoyed my card today!!  As always, I love to hear from you!!

Thanks for visiting!!

Part II: Recycling SU Scraps and Packing!!

Welcome back!!!!
I'm so excited!!!!! My recycling project for today was a success!!  Whew!!!
Remember that pile of scraps and packing I showed you Tuesday?
If not, here's a picture below.

Now that this is all said and done; WOW was I a little nervous about taking on this task!!  I decided to try my hand at making "home made" paper from all if my itsy bitsy Stampin' Up paper scraps and packing.  So last night I went to town!!  Here's a picture of my messy little spot in the kitchen!!

What brought this on was I was so tired of throwing all my paper scraps in different craft boxes and them just sitting there waiting for attention.  That's when I thought of making my own paper!!
What a way to recycle!!!
I did a test run by making two sheets of paper last night.  It wasn't too bad!!  Wet, but otherwise not bad.  Felt like a kid playing in muddy water!!
Then several steps later....VIOLA!!!
As promised, here is my project below:

The next few weekends, I'll experiment with taking my scraps and making different colors.  That's actually the tricky part is knowing what color your pulp will turn out to be!!  Most of us really try and reuse all of our little tiny scraps, but we still end up with paper we throw away!!!
Maybe this will be a new thought I can inspire others to do too.

The Paper Players are also celebrating re-purposed or recycling with this fabulous theme challenge by Nance Leedy.

I decided to enter my recycled card for the Paper Players challenge too.
What a fun idea the Pals and the Paper Players have come up with this month!!!

As always, your comments are always appreciated!!
I hope you love this challenge from the Paper Players!!  Just a reminder the link will close Friday, April 12thth at 12:00pm (PDT).   So go on over and join them for some fun!!!  See you there!!!

Stampin' Pretty Pals April Blog Hop!!!

2013aprhop_badge

Thank you for joining us for the April Pals Blog Hop!
To celebrate Earth Day, the April blog hop  features new cards and projects that capture the essence of Earth Day through colors and images and/or use recycled or reused elements. We hope you are ready for some fun and creative ideas.
You should have just left stop number 5 on the Pals Hop
If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

My card below is in celebration of Earth Day.  What wonderful gifts our planet gives us!!  I love flowers!!  In many of my cards you see I have created flowers that feature different levels of dimension and complexity.  However, today I decided to do a simple wild flower spray to show the simplicity and elegance of what Mother Nature gives us!!  What do you think?

Usually I leave the inside of my cards blank, but I decided this time to add the sentiment inside to keep the focal point of the flowers.  This card is obviously for my sister.
It's to show my appreciation for her support she has shown me
while on the college search with my daughter.

I decided to use a fun color combination of Regal Rose and Whisper White.  I used the "Amazing Family" stamp set from our Spring catalog.  The flowers were created using "Simply Soft" now retired from our 2011-2012 Catalog.  Reusing this set is also a way we can recycle items in our craft room once in awhile too.  I colored the flowers using Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue stamp pad with the watercolor pen.  I love the soft muted colors this created!!  Last, I used the "Distressed Dots" pad  for the envelope and background on the card.  To add just a little more dimension, I used the hole punch to emphasize the dots on the sentiment.

Now, as an added bonus, take a look at this pile of scraps and packing below from my Stampin' Up shipments.  Look familiar?

This month is to celebrate not only Earth Day, but the "art" of recycling.
Come back Thursday to see what I have done with this pile!!!
What could I possibly create with this Stampin' Up pile of scraps and packing?
I can't wait to show you!!!

I hope you enjoyed my card!!!  As always, I love to hear from you!!!
The next stop is Peggy Noe at prettypapercards.com,
stop number 7 on the Pals Blog Hop!
Thanks for visiting – and I hope to see you next month!
